So i've decided that i'm going to turn my love for the sport into something that can help everyone, not just snowboard coaches and trainers. I've created the snowboard coach network first on Twitter http://twitter.com/Snowboard_Coach and then on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/SnowboardCoachNetwork. This lead to a whole series of news and information sources for snowboarding.
My initial thought was to bring industry information to the professionals, but now i see that any fan of snowboarding is interested in these blogs, facebook pages and twitter feeds. I'm hoping by having this source of information, it will bring interested people together and allow for a community to be built between the snowboard coach and professional, with anyone interested in the industry or looking for the right coach.
Snowboard Trainers Forum
Read this blog, Improve your riding! We will discuss everything from buying gear, to teaching, traveling to a great location to working with a great instructor. We will also look at the challenges of training a large staff of snowboard instructors. But most of all, we will improve your riding whether you are a beginner or professional.

Busy -Busy!
it's been a while since I posted anything, but it's been a busy season!
I am happy to say that I am now up at Killington with a few other fellow Wachusett and AASI friends about to (re)take the Level III , and for some, the Level II exam. It's been a great season regardless of the outcome, but I am very happy to be closing out the year with some great riders, great personalities and share the energy!
Just heading out to the hot tub, so I we'll catch up again shortly!

Backcountry Report

I got this great email from a friend of mine, that sums up the lovely snow we had this past week. I thought I would share with all of you:
6-8" of the coolest snow I've ever ridden fell on Watatic last night. Kerry and I (and the dogs) arrived around 3pm, and we got 1-1/2 runs in before the rain started. Relatively warm weather, but REALLY windy at the top, with ice pellets stinging any bare skin that was facing windward. Dogs' coats were literally frosted with ice, making some really cool patterns on the fur.
But the snow was wild. Really heavy, thick sugar that floated my 200+ lbs easier than any other I've ridden. That is, as long as my nose didn't dive. When it did, just like hitting the brakes, hard. Shift onto backfoot, rise the nose, and we're off and floating again. All the snow we've had this year has completely covered the downfall and made the trails real wide, with plenty of room to swerve around and have a blast.
We got soaked while removing the gear and getting into the car, but it was worth it!
With any luck, two days of warm days, cold nights, will dry out the crust that formed after we left, and Saturday will be amazing. Join us!
Cheers,
-Doug
